McDermott Will & Emery’s co-chairman of IP in Los Angeles is heading south to head up Orrick’s Orange County IP practice, several sources confirmed to Legal Pad on Monday.
Partner Mark Wine has apparently given notice to McDermott, but hasn’t yet arrived at Orrick, the sources said. Wine didn’t return a call and e-mail seeking comment on Monday.
Wine represents clients in patent litigation involving a broad range of technologies including communication hardware and software, medical treatment technologies, computer disk drives and lighting fixtures.
Orrick’s Orange County office currently has about 14 intellectual property attorneys, according to the firm’s Web site. In recent years, Orrick has made significant strides in increasing its IP profile, such as snagging rising IP star Fabio Marino.
