The freshly-freed William Lerach has found a way to fill his time, after pleading guilty to paying kickbacks to plaintiffs in securities class actions: public speaker.
Lerach is scheduled to speak at a University of San Diego School of Law panel called "Where is Corporate and Securities Litigation Headed Post-Crisis?", according to the National Law Journal.
USD Law Professor Frank Portnoy, also a panelist and a member of the Center for Corporate and Securities Law that organized the event, defended Lerach's inclusion despite his criminal background: a book was recently released chronicling Lerach's career. In addition, he noted that none of the panelists are being paid for their participation.
Lerach was released from his two year prison term (which he had been serving from home since Decedmber) earlier this month.
