The behemoth litigation to decide whether gay couples can marry in California finally has a Supreme Court date: March 4, just under a month away. That means we can expect an opinion by early June.
And it will be a behemoth session: The court has scheduled three hours of oral argument to handle all six coordinated cases in one fell swoop. Each of eight parties will get something between 10 and 45 minutes to make their case.
For those who like to follow every turn and twist of the arguments at home, the Supreme Court promises to (eventually) post briefs online here. The big day on March 4 will also be televised.
