The San Mateo DA’s office, along with other DAs and a city attorney, got a $1.75 million settlement against Petco in a consumer protection case approved by a San Diego Superior court judge today.
For allegedly overcharging customers and animal safety problems, Petco agreed to pay the penalties and costs without admitting liability. Petco paid more than $850,000 to resolve a similar case over five years ago.
San Mateo deputy district attorney, John Wilson, in charge of the Consumer & Environmental Unit, prosecuted the case with attorneys from the DA’s offices in San Diego, Marin, LA and Santa Barbara, as well as the San Diego city attorney’s office.
