Election results for the 2010 primary are starting to dribble in and we’ll be keeping track of a number of races tonight, including the attorney general primaries, the Santa Clara County District Attorney contest and a number of judicial elections.
We’ll also be watching to see how the traditional legislative proxy wars between trial lawyers and corporations turn out in what is expected to be a low-turnout election.
Very early on (just 8.7 percent of the state’s precincts have reported) it’s all Kamala Harris in the Democratic primary. She’s up 29-18 over Chris Kelly. But the first tally includes the early mail-in ballots. We’ll see if Kelly’s onslaught of advertising attacks on Harris shows up in the later returns.
We’re here at the Kelly campaign party tonight, and let’s just say the crowd is late-arriving. Guess everyone’s watching the Lakers game in the lobby.
On the Republican side, Los Angeles DA Steve Cooley has more votes than his competitors combined.
Stay tuned. It should be an interesting night.
