For those of you who missed last night's finale like we did (Legal Pad had a good excuse, being on a flight somewhere over the Rockies at the time), the California lawyers who are also siblings pulled off the big win, and the $1 million prize. Of course, this was deemed a "heartbreaking" ending by whoever wrote this headline:
Heartbreaking finish to CBS' 'Amazing Race'
Why is lawyers winning lots of money a sad thing? And is carrying a giant pig more fun than doc review?
No offense meant, we're sure, though: It was a reference to the contest's first deaf contestant being this close to winning before the last challenge did him in. (The story did not note, but we will, that it was the Mother's Day episode and he was competing with his mother, to boot.) At least, we think the headline is referring to him. It's also possible it was lamenting the loss by the ex-cheerleaders who were also in last night's finale.
At any rate, congrats to Victor and Tammy Jih, L.A. partner at O'Melveny and S.F. associate at Quinn, respectively. They were real nice to Legal Pad
when we talked to them back in January, and exceptionally good at not betraying that they'd won a cool million already. Still, we couldn't resist including what we think is the
"money shot," at right, from the finale's luau challenge. We know who we'd put in charge of food for the next firm retreat ...
