Update note on 5/26/09: People seem to be finding this post on the day the Cal Supremes upheld Prop 8. For our coverage thereof, start here.
Thursday will be a momentous day at the California Supreme Court. The justices will wrestle with the fate of same-sex marriage, consider a seismic restructuring of state election law, and potentially kick off a voter revolt against the court and perhaps judges everywhere. The stakes are high, to say the least.
Because the three Proposition 8 cases -- Strauss v. Horton, Tyler v. California and San Francisco v. Horton -- are so important to the people, the hundreds of amici curiae and the judiciary, we'll be covering them in real time on this blog and on Legal Pad's Twitter feed.
So check in here starting at 9 a.m. Thursday for live updates on where the justices are probing, how the lawyers are performing, and our best guess at how the court is going to vote. (You can't always tell from arguments, but our track record on this issue isn't bad.)
