The blog of our sister publication, Legal Times, brings news that must come as a relief for John McCain: Northern District Judge William Alsup has ruled that it is "highly probable" that McCain — who was born in the Panama Canal Zone — is a natural born U.S. citizen. In so ruling Alsup turned back an attempt by a supporter of Alan Keyes to strike McCain from the California ballot.
Of course, this will be reviewable to the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals. But we're sure the judges there wouldn't want to mess with an election at the last minute.
