… is watching her on the screen during a “special showing” at the Embarcadero’s Landmark Theatre in San Francisco this month of “Battle in Seattle.” Theron acts in it (her boyfriend, Stuart Townsend, directs), joined by Woody Harrelson, Michelle Rodriguez and some other people. Bummer for us, Theron doesn’t play a lawyer, but the pregnant wife of a riot cop.
But lest you think we have not found a lawyer connection, don’t doubt us: The 7:30 showing on Sept. 25 is being sponsored by Public Justice (formerly Trial Lawyers for Public Justice), the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association, and Consumer Attorneys of California. And why do they care? Because “Battle in Seattle” is all about the 1999 WTO protest — Public Justice says it represented a lot of the protestors depicted in the movie. It intertwines actual footage with Hollywood’s version. There was also a related class action, but that didn’t make the cut. Maybe they’ll put that on a bonus disc for the DVD.
