What’s better than the Oscars and "American Idol" put together? A popularity contest of law firm leaders, of course!
Thanks to a post at the Adam Smith Esq. blog, we learned that law firm leaders had been polled by Edge International on which legal general they admire most and the winner is … Bob Dell, head of international powerhouse Latham & Watkins, garnering a rousing 13 percent of the votes.
Tied for second are Goodwin Procter’s Regina Pisa and DLA Piper’s Lee Miller, each with 6.5 percent of the votes.
We know, you’re already fretting, “Whither Ralph Baxter, that fearless leader of Orrick?”
No need to worry, Baxter placed in the top 10, as did retired law firm chiefs from Jones Day and Hogan & Hartson, Patrick McCartan and Bob Odle.
Edge got information-bearing responses from 62 firm leaders, but another dozen or so responded with comments like: “Sorry but I’m not familiar with other managing partners,” or “I do not know anyone by name,” or also “No one name really comes to mind for me.”
All Legal Pad can say is that it’s a sad day when the titans of industry could walk down the street and be mistaken for a stray transactional lawyer.
