An update: Last month we noted that UK firm Clifford Chance was pulling out of Silicon Valley and moving its last partner here, Daniel Harris, to Washington, D.C., but it looks like that’s not going to be the case. The IP veteran said this week he has quit the firm — his last day is Friday — and is staying put in Palo Alto.
Harris said that after many sleepless nights, he and his his wife and three kids decided it would be best to stay put. “Money isn’t everything,” noted Harris, explaining that “certainly staying at Clifford Chance was the easiest decision financially.”
Although he said he’s gotten offers from a number of law firms, Harris said he’s more interested in looking into the possibility of working in-house. But for now, he’s going to pursue his neglected hobby of photography and spend more time with his family.
